About his Painting
ALDO MASCIANGELO (signed ALMAS) worked for 40 years as a designer in the field of plant engineering; resident in Rome at via Vito G.Galati, 95, e-mail: aldo.masciangelo@fastwebnet.it
Mycologist, he was part of the Scientific Committee of AMER (Associazione Micologica Ecologica Romana) as a lecturer and speaker; since 1990 he has written for the biweekly “Mondo Sabino” as well as other Sabine periodicals and was president of the Frasso Sabino (Ri) Cultural Association, active in organizing cultural events in the Rieti area.
He was also president of the Municipal Institution “Arcadia” of Frasso Sabino, which manages astronomy and the music school, as well as other cultural events promoted by the municipality.
He was also artistic director, for twenty years, of the classical-lyric festival “FrassoMusica” which takes place in Frasso Sabino during the summer.
He published “Frasso Sabino e il territorio di Osteria Nuova” (1992), a compendium on the archaeology, folklore, and history of this area of Sabina, receiving for this work the position of Honorary Inspector of the Archaeological Superintendency of Lazio from the Minister of Cultural Heritage Hon. Veltroni.
In December 2002, he published with ANTALIA Publishing House the book of short stories “I racconti del caminetto”.
In October 2007, he published with ALETTI EDITORE the book of fables “Il bestiario a modo mio”.
He was also an honorary guard of the royals of the Pantheon.
He completed an eight-year cycle on Art History with the Popular University (UPTER), receiving a diploma of competence.
In 2000 he began the art of painting with Prof. Clerici and later with Maestro Francesco Ventura, with whom he now shares a studio.
He is a board member of the “Associazione Arte 2000”, an association active in the Sabine territory with painting exhibitions and cultural events such as “l’Oliva d’oro” present in the Rieti area.
He has participated in several exhibitions in Rome, in the Lazio region, and in other regions of Central Italy; recently he exhibited at the civic museum of Palazzo Eroli in Narni and at the former Pinacoteca of Assisi. Some of his paintings are in private collections and others abroad.
His name appears among the painters in the COMED yearbook and in the catalog of the Academy of Fine Arts of Santa Sara in Alessandria.
