The Critique
"Soul and writing" acrylic on canvas 80 x 80 cm
At first glance, the richness of the color tones and their harmony stand out. It is a painting in motion where the vanishing point can be recognized in a perhaps unusual place: at the bottom, on the right margin[1] (the right margin of the painting represents the paternal, the social, the world). From there, an explosion of colors travels towards another, opposite dimension. They seem like flocks in motion, beating wings that intertwine, as if magnetically attracted from Above, towards the luminous left margin (the maternal, the return and the search for origins).
A clarifying Light lets you glimpse other doors, passages, omens of other knowledge.
Letters intertwine over the skillfully spread colors. Writing is an identifying sign of the person and even the choice to write the letters in the Block Letter[2] style, instead of in Cursive[3] tells us of a desire to detach, not to conform, a need to take a different position in the face of what others call "reality," a desire to fly higher and a will to achieve. Block letter writing is a super-individual choice, especially because it is used as an artistic expression, a need to establish new patterns, to look beyond.
This intertwining of consonants seems almost like a magic formula, a message in a code addressed to those who know how to read beyond appearances.
Block letter writing is a super-individual, collective choice, not imposed from above, by culture, by society.
It is as if at a certain point there was a need to break with the rules of the past; to establish new ones, outside the schemes of Female-Male, of social hierarchies or dictated by age. A will to "see clearly" and to be able to observe the world from the outside, in the impossible attempt to overcome the subjectivity that binds us to our body and to the earth. A need to be able to observe from above, like a bird's-eye view, the environment and ourselves.
